Nestled between rolling hills and stunning forests, Stuttgart is best known as the ‘cradle of the automobile’, and proudly displays its heritage with several museums dedicated to high-end car manufacturers like Mercedez-Benz and Porsche. The city's also known for being ‘green’; over 50 per cent of it is woodland, agricultural space, or parks. Make sure you visit Schlossplatz, Stuttgart’s central square, which hosts open-air concerts and festivals in summer, and sparkles with its enormous market at Christmas.

You’ll also find plenty of delicious food and drink to enjoy during your visit, with everything from street vendors offering local delights like Maultaschen (meat-filled pasta dumplings) and Zwiebelrostbraten (fried beef with onions), to Michelin-starred restaurants serving international favourites. At the end of the day, rest your head at one of Stuttgart’s many charming guest houses or luxury hotels, some of which offer incredible views of the Neckar River which flows through the city.
